Principal
Harrison Gillaspy, M.Ed.
Email Harrison GillaspyHarrison Gillaspy will serve as the Principal of Splendora Junior High beginning in the 2026–2027 school year, transitioning from his role as Principal of Piney Woods Elementary, which he has held since 2024. Gillaspy began his career in education as an elementary PE teacher in Fort Worth ISD before moving to the Houston area, where he spent three years as a secondary PE teacher and football coach in New Caney ISD. He then joined Splendora ISD to teach Social Studies at Splendora Junior High and later served as the After-School Activities Coordinator, where he built a comprehensive, district-wide after-school program from scratch.
Gillaspy holds a Master's Degree in Educational Administration from Lamar University, completed in June 2023, and a Bachelor's Degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis on Physical Education from Texas Christian University, earned in 2017. He is currently continuing his education online at TCU, working in a dual degree program where he will graduate with a Master's in Business Administration and an Educational Doctorate. While at TCU, Gillaspy was a dedicated member of the football team, playing both fullback and linebacker. Outside his professional endeavors, Gillaspy and his wife enjoy taking walks, volunteering at their church, and spending time together with their daughter, who was born in April 2023.

Assistant Principal
Ashley Harris, M.Ed.
Email Ashley HarrisAshley Harris joins SJH as Assistant Principal, bringing experience in instructional leadership, campus operations, and student support from Crosby ISD. At Crosby High School, she contributed to campus improvement initiatives, collaborated with staff to support student achievement, and provided leadership through mentoring, coaching, and data-driven decision-making. She also served in administrative roles, including Summer School Administrator and Administrator on Duty, overseeing campus operations, supervising staff, handling student discipline, and communicating with parents.
Ms. Harris earned a Master of Science in Educational Administration from Texas A&M International University and a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Texas at Austin. She holds Principal EC-12 certification along with certifications in ELAR 7-12, ESL, and Gifted and Talented.
In addition to her leadership experience, Ms. Harris has coached multiple athletic programs, helping develop leadership, accountability, and teamwork among student-athletes. She is passionate about building strong relationships with students, staff, and families while creating supportive learning environments where all students can grow and succeed.

Assistant Principal
Nick Mooneyham, M.Ed.
Email Nick MooneyhamNick Mooneyham joins Splendora Junior High School as Assistant Principal after serving students and families in both Magnolia ISD and Conroe ISD. His experience includes teaching, coaching, and leadership development at both the junior high and high school levels.
Mr. Mooneyham earned a degree in Agricultural Economics from Texas A&M University before completing his Master's Degree in Educational Leadership and Principal Certification at the University of North Texas. Throughout his career, he has been recognized for his strong work ethic, attention to detail, and ability to build meaningful relationships with students, staff, and families. He is passionate about fostering a positive school culture focused on student growth, academic achievement, and creating opportunities for all students to succeed.
Mr. Mooneyham and his wife, Michaela, are excited to join the Splendora community and become part of the Wildcat family.

Assistant Principal
Jewel Whitfield, M.Ed.
Email Jewel WhitfieldJewel Whitfield joins Splendora Junior High School with more than 25 years of experience in public education throughout the greater Houston area. During her career, she has served in a variety of educational leadership roles, including teacher, assistant principal, principal, executive director of elementary education, and assistant superintendent.
Whitfield earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Sam Houston State University and later completed her Master of Education in Educational Administration from Prairie View A&M University. Throughout her career, she has remained committed to supporting student achievement, strengthening instructional programs, and building positive relationships with staff, families, and the community.
Whitfield believes successful schools are built through collaboration, high expectations, and a shared commitment to helping every student grow academically, socially, and emotionally. She looks forward to working alongside students, staff, and families to continue building a supportive and engaging learning environment at SJH.
Outside of education, Whitfield is the proud mother of two sons, Benjamin and William, and enjoys spending time with her family and supporting their activities.

Instructional Coach
Kasey Black, M.Ed.
Email Kasey BlackKasey Black is an enthusiastic and dedicated instructional coach with a strong passion for reading and literacy development. With 11 years of experience in education, including her most recent nine years with Splendora ISD, she is dedicated to fostering lifelong learning.
Before entering the field of education, Kasey spent 13 years in human resources, adding a valuable layer of professional experience to her work in schools. She holds a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Sam Houston State University and is currently pursuing an additional master's certificate in English composition and rhetoric.
Outside of her professional endeavors, Kasey is happily married, a proud Mom of 5 and Grandma of 1. She enjoys time with her family, hiking, and scuba diving.

Instructional Coach
Jamie Dean, M.Ed.
Email Jamie DeanJamie Dean is excited to step into a leadership role at Splendora Junior High. She began her career in education as a math teacher at Cy-Fair ISD in 2006 and subsequently taught at New Caney ISD. In 2012, she became the Math/Science Instructional Coach for Shepherd Middle School, and in 2020, Dean joined Splendora ISD as a junior high math teacher.
Dean obtained her bachelor's degree from Stephen F. Austin State University in 2005 and her master's from Lamar University in 2023.
Dean has been married to her husband, Michael, since 2007. Together, they have two children, Kennedy, who attends Splendora High School, and Karsyn, who attends Splendora Junior High.

Program Facilitator
Lonny Harris, M.Ed.
Email Lonny HarrisIn 2012, Lonny Harris began his career in education, working as a student teacher at Splendora High School. Shortly after graduating from Sam Houston State University with a Bachelor's degree in English, he accepted a teaching position with Garland ISD. In the fall of 2013, Harris returned to SISD and continued teaching various levels of high school English while also serving as a district mentor. In 2021, he expanded his role and transitioned into teaching English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) to grades 9-12, while also serving as the Language Proficiency Assessment Committee (LPAC) Coordinator and case manager at the high school. In the summer of 2023, Harris accepted the position of Coordinator of Afterschool Programs. Here, he continued to grow and improve the district-wide tutoring and enrichment programs that served students in grades 2 through 12. In the fall of 2024, he expanded his professional journey by accepting a position as assistant principal at Peach Creek Elementary, where he proudly served the students and community for two years. For the 2026-2027 school year, he will serve as the Programs Facilitator at Splendora Junior High.
Harris's academic journey is a testament to his dedication and thirst for knowledge. In addition to his Bachelor's degree in English from Sam Houston State University, he also graduated from Blinn College in 2010 with degrees in mathematics and social sciences, thus laying a solid foundation for his future in education. His commitment to personal growth led him to earn a Master's in Curriculum and Instruction with a minor in Education Administration from Sam Houston State University in the Spring of 2015, further enhancing his teaching skills and knowledge.
Outside of education, Harris enjoys working in his woodshop with his wife, Sara (who also teaches for SISD), and their children. He is a lifelong learner and hopes to continue inspiring others.
